We understand that each child’s journey is unique and we are committed to providing an environment where every individual can thrive, feel valued and achieve their full potential.

At Vireo Academy, we strive to improve the life chances of every young person we work with by providing an holistic and nurturing approach to teaching and learning and celebrating success. This is delivered through classroom teaching, personalised learning, and meaningful interventions, enabling every young person the opportunity to achieve the success they deserve. Learners have access to a broad and balanced curriculum, and we continually review and modify our offer to respond to young people’s needs. We are supported by specialist teachers and teaching assistants who provide a caring and nurturing environment to motivate, support, and guide our young people.

The Vireo Home and Hospital School work in partnership with key agencies to offer appropriate intervention to vulnerable learners with medical and mental health needs in a supportive and structured setting.

We work with learners from both the primary and secondary phases who are referred from mainstream schools, medical, and psychological practitioners for various reasons. Learners have access to a range of academic and vocational qualifications, as well as a creative curriculum. Our focus is on the individual learner and ensuring that they are able to regain their rightful place in society and the wider world.

We offer home tuition, small group/one-to-one tuition at our school (up to 17.5 hours), and tuition also takes place at the Hospital School Room that is based at New Cross hospital on the children’s ward.

All of our learners behaviour and well-being are consistently judged as outstanding by Ofsted, and young people continually demonstrate their respect for our school and all other learners that attend here.

Our core values are at the heart of everything we do. We are child-centered, ensuring that every decision we make is in the best interest of our learners. We are adaptive and sensitive to need, recognising the diverse challenges our learners face and responding with specific and appropriate support and care. Finally, we believe in being authentic in our relationships. Trust, respect, and open communication form the foundation of our interactions with learners, families, and each other.
